With Carson Wentz turning some heads, the Cleveland Browns might be in play for his services.
Senior Bowl week is here, which means that we’re going to start getting an idea of who some of the top draft picks might be this spring. One of the players that has really been turning heads in practice ahead of the actual game on Saturday is North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz. With the way that he has performed this week, there is a good chance that he could be the first quarterback taken off the board.
Well, right after the Tennessee Titans pick at No. 1 –assuming they keep the pick– the team at No. 2 is one that everyone knows needs a quarterback — the Cleveland Browns. And make no mistake about it, they are one of the teams interested in the services of the Bison signal caller.
According to WalterFootball.com, the Browns are indeed very intrigued by Wentz and are said to be “extremely high” on him. So if he continues to perform at the level that he is throughout the rest of the draft process, then there might be a chance we see this young man go off the board very early come draft time.
Of course, this all really depends on whether or not the team does want to move on from Johnny Manziel, which they actually might. From the moment that Hue Jackson was hired as the new head coach in Cleveland, it was really no secret that he doesn’t have much interest in building his offense around Johnny Football.
Now Wentz? Wentz actually does have all the tools to run the Hue Jackson offense, so it’s really not all that far-fetched to believe that they might scoop him up with the No. 2 pick — if he’s still there and someone hasn’t traded up to the No. 1 spot to get him if he is making that much noise.
