Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis almost ended Devin Booker with a huge putback dunk
There’s a beast that inhabits the hardwood of Madison Square Garden. He stands 7-3; he often is seen wearing a New York Knicks jersey bearing the No. 6; his legend grows with each passing 48-minute contest.
That beast, of course, is Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis and Phoenix Suns rookie Devin Booker was introduced to him and the wrath he can rain down upon those who stand between Porzingis and the rim.
In the third quarter of the contest between the Knicks and Suns on Friday night, Carmelo Anthony tried to get deep into the paint and knock down a short turnaround jumper. When that missed off to the left side, though, Porzingis was already making a hard run to the rim from the corner and rose over an unsuspecting Booker to throw down one of his patented monster putback dunks:
There are dozens upon dozens of players in the NBA that have the ability to throw down a big putback dunk. However, the frequency and efficacy that Porznigis is able to do so as just a rookie in this league is truly remarkable.
It’s the putback slams that obviously bring a lot of eyes to Porzingis, but he continues to look like the real deal as a whole as the season wears on. He truly is the beast of the hardwood of MSG and opponents should be just a bit wary of what he’s planning to do on them this season and in the years to come if they come into his path.
