The Ole Miss Rebels received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA at maybe the worst possible time.

The University of Mississippi has been formally charged with multiple violations by the NCAA, as they have received their Notice of Allegations from the good folks at the NCAA, Yahoo Sports is reporting. The allegations center around women’s basketball, track and field, and of course the sport that everyone has their eyes on with this news — football. According to the report, there are 30 violations in total.

Of course, this news really could not have come at a worse time for the school, especially the football program. This coming Wednesday is National Signing Day, which is the heart and soul of the recruiting season. Once again head coach Hugh Freeze has put together one of the top classes in the country as the Rebels look to continue to rise the ranks of the SEC, so there’s no telling how this might affect all the hard work he and the staff have put into building not only this class, but classes for the future as well.

As with any other Notice of Allegations from the NCAA, the university will have 90 days to respond to everything that was in the letter that they reportedly received.

To some, this news might not come as all that much of a shock. From the moment that Ole Miss started putting together some of the top football classes in the country, accusations of wrongdoing have been rampant on the internet. Seriously, just do a Twitter search for “Ole Mi$$” and you’ll see what we mean.

This past season people got a small dose of vindication when offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil sat out seven games due to alleged use of three separate loaner vehicles and suspicious lodging circumstances, which did nothing to help the perception of the football program.

Now we all just sit back and wait to see how Ole Miss handles this. They have 90 days, and if the past has shown us anything, their best course of action if they did do anything wrong that’s alleged in the letter is to handle it themselves before the suits from Indianapolis step in.
