NBA players often do fun little giveaways on social media as a way to interact with fans and give out some cool gifts. Most of the time they take the form of trivia questions or picture contests and reward fans with signed jerseys or balls or tickets to a game. Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes is now taking things a step further, teaming up with Hypeist to bring a scavenger hunt to New York City on Sunday afternoon to reward his fans.
More details about the giveaway can be found on the Hypeist website but the premise is simple. There will be a bunch of different clues and challenges given out that will allow fans to find tokens around the city that are redeemable for other prizes, with one of the prizes being a meet and greet with Barnes along with tickets to see him and his Warriors teammates take on Kristaps Porzingis and the New York Knicks on Sunday afternoon.
The idea builds upon some scavenger hunts that Barnes has had recently in Oakland where the Warriors play their home games. To move things to road cities is pretty cool as it allows fans of the Warriors or Barnes, who has been a big name since his high school days, to get a chance to win things that they otherwise could not. Hopefully this is not a one time thing and Barnes continues bringing contests to some road cities with him, as plenty of people are surely going to get a kick out of things in New York.
