Javier Chicharito Hernandez found the back of the net again on Saturday, scoring a brace in the second half against Hannover.
Javier Chicharito Hernandez struggled during his time with Real Madrid and Manchester United, but has been firing on all cylinders since his move to Germany’s Bundesliga. The Mexican international joined Bayer Leverkusen in a move this past summer, and has become one of the most coveted strikers on the planet again as a result.
He now has 13 league goals in 16 matches, with his latest coming on Saturday against Hannover. The 27-year-old scored a brace on the day, as his club ultimately won 3-0. Stefan Kiessling opened the scoring for his team in the 44th minute, but Chicharito added two in the second half to ensure his side took home all three points.
His first came from the spot, as he converted a penalty kick in the 67th minute before adding a second in the 87th minute.
Chicharito’s stellar campaign has garnered him interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Liverpool thought to be very fond of the striker. However, he seems to be enjoying life at the moment in Germany. His club currently sit fourth in the Bundesliga table, with 31 points from 19 matches. They also remain alive in the Pokal Cup, where they will take on Werder Bremen on February 9th.
Bayer Leverkusen will be back in action on next weekend, in a critical contest against league leaders, Bayern Munich. They will host the Bavarian giants at the Bay Arena on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
