If the Sacramento Kings decide to move Rudy Gay, here are five destinations for him.

The Sacramento Kings might not have a winning record, but they’re playing competitive basketball in the Western Conference that has the team in contention for the final playoff spot. Led by DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo, the Kings are beginning to find some chemistry and are putting some good players on the basketball court.

While they have two cornerstone players for the future, the Kings roster still has its flaws and a lot of work to be done. They are a team without much of any draft picks for the future and need to get younger around their stars and add some flexibility.

They are a team that should be active in the market at the trade deadline this season as well. While Cousins and Rondo will for sure be staying put, there’s not too many other players on the roster that can’t be had for the right price in a deal. If the Kings are looking to get some flexibility and get some assets in return, then the guy they need to look to move is Rudy Gay.

While his numbers aren’t as great as they normally are this season, Gay is still a very productive player in this league and would be a good addition for anyone that adds him. He’s the one player that the Kings could trade to get value in return without having to sacrifice the season that they are having this year.

He has another year on his contract after this season that’s guaranteed and a player option during the season after that. Whichever team adds him is going to likely have him for at least a year depending upon what Gay decides to do with his player option when the salary cap spikes.

So if the Kings do decide to move Gay at the trade deadline, which is a clear possibility, these are the five trade destinations that make sense for him.
