4. Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies will be going back to the playoffs again this season if things unfold as they are. However, the Grizzlies don’t really seem like a threat to do much without a little more shooting and scoring.

When the Grizzlies traded away Rudy Gay the first time, they lost a player that could go on a tear and put up a bunch of points on occasion. While the Grizzlies have survived fine without him, they could certainly use a player like Gay right now as they get ready for the playoffs.

In the Western Conference, the Grizzlies are going to be going up against some big forwards in the first round of the playoffs. That means having another big forward like Gay up front could go a long way for the team.

Jeff Green hasn’t been able to provide the same replacement value as Gay and the Grizzlies are in a position where they’re sort of stuck where they’re at. They have a great physical, defensive style suited for the postseason, but they need some guys that can go off in a moments notice to add.

They have the assets to give to Sacramento, as they will likely be keeping their playoff pick this year since it looks like they will be bound for the playoffs. They have players to make the salaries work to have a homecoming for Gay. It’s probably not the most appealing trade for Sacramento, but there’s something to be had here.
