The Dallas Cowboys could bolster their defensive line with the selection of Ole Miss defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche this spring
Despite fans’ desperate pleas for a potential future franchise quarterback with the fourth overall selection in the NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys really don’t have to go in that direction despite the awful performance of Tony Romo’s backups in 2015. Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones echoed that feeling recently, saying the team has options there.
While a gamble, should Romo remain healthy, they might be fine at the position for the time being.
This may not have been simple lip service by Jones as the ‘Boys have reportedly been doing their homework on Ole Miss defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche and may consider taking him with their fourth overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.
"“Teams in the top 5 are evaluating him like he’s going to be a top-5 pick. Specially the Dallas Cowboys have been very, very involved starting to get background information on him from trainers from coaches, reaching out to that Ole Miss Staff.”"
Nkemdiche looked for a moment to have slid down draft boards after he fell out of a hotel window allegedly due to smoking synthetic marijuana, but per Matt Miller of Bleacher Report, most teams see this as an isolated incident and not an indication of Nkemdiche’s character.
The defensive lineman is listed as 6-foot-4 and 296 pounds and could play either tackle position in Dallas. He would finally give the team a solid upgrade at their one-technique tackle, a position they have ignored for years.
