No. 10 Providence Friars vs Georgetown Hoyas
The Big East is the most competitive and deepest it’s been in years thanks to surging teams that no one expected to do much in the preseason such as Providence, Creighton and Marquette. The Friars are ranked No. 10 in the nation, but have been struggling in recent games, going just 2-3 in the last five.

Still, though, the emergence of Kris Dunn has been fantastic. Many are calling the junior point guard the best at his position in the country and could even work his way into a lottery pick this coming summer. He’s averaging 16.9 points, 7.1 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game. Ben Bentil, however, leads the team in scoring with 20 points to go along with 8.1 rebounds.
Georgetown began the season ranked, but after a 6-5 start, the Hoyas found themselves in deep trouble. Losing to teams like Radford, Monmouth and UNC Asheville seemed to kill any hope for an NCAA Tournament run in March, but the Hoyas have since gone 7-3 with a 6-2 record in Big East play.
D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera has been leading the team, offensively, all season long, averaging 16.3 points and 4.4 assists per game. He’s also averaging 1.6 steals and is shooting nearly 36 percent from three-point range. A win for the Hoyas against Providence would go a long way as far as the rest of the schedule is concerned — they have four games against current top 10 teams remaining.
