No. 11 Virginia Cavaliers vs No. 16 Louisville Cardinals

Everyone was quick to jump the gun and call the Virginia Cavaliers overrated when the season began and they had lost to George Washington in the second game of the year. No one is saying that now as the Cavaliers had won the rest of their non-conference games. However, three conference losses in the ACC might already push them out of the race for a title.

Malcolm Brogdon is the leader of this team and he’s led the Cavaliers to plenty of success over the last three years. He’s currently leading the team in scoring, 17.6 points, and is second in rebounds with 4.5 per game. Anthony Gill is second on the team with 15 points and first with six rebounds per game.

Louisville has been one of the more surprising teams in the ACC, posting a 6-1 record in conference play and 17-3 mark overall. Two of the Cardinals’ three losses have been by less than five points, on the road, against top-tier teams. One was a two-point loss in Lexington to the Kentucky Wildcats and the other was a four-point loss to Michigan State in East Lansing.

Getting the transfer of senior guard Damion Lee from Drexel has been a godsend for the young Louisville Cardinals. He’s leading the team in scoring with 17.2 points per game while adding an impressive 1.7 steals per contest. Watch out for Chinanu Onuako in the post as he’s averaging 10.6 points, nine rebounds and two blocks per game.
