1. Houston Rockets

When the trade deadline nears, the Houston Rockets begin making deals to acquire players. The team has already brought back Josh Smith in a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers and it doesn’t look like they’re done yet. While the Rockets are currently in the bottom of the Western Conference playoff race, they have a lot to do stabilize the team.

They have a lot of questions facing the future of their franchise and one thing that has slipped recently is their defense. If the Rockets are going to find their groove and compete in the Western Conference in the playoffs, then they need to add an edge and someone who isn’t afraid to mix it up come playoff time.

The Rockets would be wise to go after Taj Gibson as another defensive anchor for their playoff race. They need another veteran on the roster and one that can shoulder the heavy load during the stretch run of the season.

The Rockets have plenty of young intriguing forwards that could certainly interest the Bulls in a swap, although they would have to take one of probably Trevor Ariza or Corey Brewer potentially to make salaries work.

Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is always looking for ways to improve his team and bringing in another player that will grind and go to work is exactly what the Rockets need right now as they figure out how to right the ship.
