Lorenzo Insigne scored a fantastic free-kick to give Napoli a 2-1 lead over Empoli at the San Paolo.

After Juventus beat Chievo Verona 4-0 in the first Serie A match of the day on Sunday, the pressure was on Napoli to get a win over Empoli at the San Paolo. Juventus had gone one point ahead of Napoli for top spot in the Serie A table, but the Partenopei could regain their place on the throne with a win.

Despite a plethora of opportunities, Napoli failed to find the back of the net and Empoli made them pay the price in the 28th minute. Leandro Paredes had his long range shot deflected past Napoli goalkeeper, Pepe Reina, to give the visitors the 1-0 lead in the 28th minute.

Things would quickly change, though, as Gonzalo Higuain scored his 22nd goal of the season. The Argentine has been in blistering form this season, and is on pace to score a ridiculous 38 league goals. He took advantage of a lovely ball from Lorenzo Insigne, who would soon steal the spotlight himself.

In the 38th minute, the kid living the dream with his hometown club  gave his side the 2-1 lead with a fantastic free-kick.

Napoli have been a real joy to watch this season under head coach, Maurizio Sarri. The Italian tactician took over for Rafa Benitez during the summer, and has his team playing remarkable soccer. The Partenopei will be back in action on Wednesday, when they travel to the Stadio Olimpico in Rome to play Lazio in another crucial league match.
