5. Brooklyn Nets

It has been a disastrous season for the Brooklyn Nets. With a current record of 12-35, the Nets are in desperate need of a makeover. The Nets are an extremely thin team and lack all-around talent. Joe Johnson can still score and fill up the stat sheet but he is way past his prime. Brook Lopez continues to be a top-10 center and Thaddeus Young provides the Nets with an average starter at the power forward position. However, both players have reached their peak and it would be hard to think the Nets would want to build around their current core big three. The one bright spot this year has been 2015 first-round draft pick Rondae Hollis-Jefferson out of the University of Arizona, whom has shown versatility on both offense and defense and has energized the team with his relentless play. Unfortunately for the Nets and Rondae, an injury has sidelined him indefinitely.

Shabazz Muhammad would provide a thin Nets team with an immediate scoring option and he could potentially slide into the starting line-up from day one. Muhammed would provide an immediate upgrade over current shooting-guard starter Bojan Bogdanovic and give the Nets more versatility on both sides of the ball. With one year remaining on his contract the Nets would have plenty of time to see if Muhammad fits their system and future plans. The bright lights of New York City and a switch to the weaker Eastern Conference could boost Shabazz even more and one could imagine a situation in Brooklyn where he fulfills his can’t miss prospect status.
