4. Los Angeles Lakers

Potentially the most talked about 9-40 team in the history of the game, the Los Angeles Lakers have been an interesting team to watch this year. Clearly it has been about honoring one of the greatest of all time in Kobe Bryant, but the Lakers have to be thinking about their future as well. Every player on the roster seems to be subjected to trade speculation outside of Kobe Bryant. The Lakers are in desperate need of an impact center and need to find young scorers to help fill the hole that Kobe will create with his retirement.

Shabazz Muhammad was born in Long Beach, played basketball at UCLA, and both his parents played college basketball in Southern California. There is a clear connection to Southern California for Muhammad and a return to Los Angeles just might be the right fit. Lining up next to D’Angelo Russell would give the Lakers a young and talented backcourt that they could build on. Both players have a score first attitude, which could give the Lakers an aggressive offensive attack. If the Lakers can find a high-caliber starting center and potentially land Ben Simmons in this year’s draft, a quick turnaround could be in store for the NBA’s most storied franchise.
