The EPLās January transfer window is officially closed and teams have their squad set for the rest of the season. Here are the five clubs that did the best.
The EPLāsĀ January transfer window was incredibly quiet for some teams. The big teams in the EPL found little to no availability on the market. Meanwhile, some relegation contenders came out with entirely new squads.
That is just the way the January window goes. EPL teams at or near the top are there for a reason and if they need anything, they will get that one thing but chances are, being in the position that they are in, they do not need much. As such, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Leicester all combined to sign just five players, with three of those being from Leicester City alone.
On the opposite side of the EPL spectrum, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Newcastle, Norwich City and Swansea City all combined to land 22 players, and that is with bottom-feeding Aston Villa being left flustered with zero signings.
These relegation contending teams are loading up for the remainder of the season in the hopes that they can keep their heads above water. Or at least, that is what everyone except Villa tried to do.
But it is not always in the quantity of players that you pull in, but the quality. Some degree of chemistry is still required to garner points, so itās not like bringing in eleven strangers will do the trick in securing Premier League football next year.
As a disclaimer, Manchester City will not be on this list for securing Pep Guardiola. Sorry to disappoint.
With all those things in mind, letās gets started with the five winners of the EPL January transfer window.
