HereĀ are five recruits Auburn must sign in 2016 to get the Tigers over the top on National Signing Day.

The Auburn Tigers enter the final few days before 2016’s National Signing Day with the No. 15 rated class according to Scout. Auburn has the sixth best recruiting class in the SEC behind the LSU Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, Florida Gators,Ā Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs.

Auburn has two players in the Top 100 and 17 commitments already for the 2016 recruiting class. Eight project as offensive players and nine project as defensive players. Auburn has 11 four-star recruits and six three-star recruits.

Auburn is about where they want to be in the SEC recruit rankings. Anything in the top half of the talent rich Southeastern Conference will give the Tigers a chance to field a competitive team in arguably the toughest division in college football in the SEC West with another strong 2016 recruiting class.

The Tigers are one of the few teams heading into National Signing Day that could skyrocket in the class rankings should Auburn be able to pick up a few huge recruits. Auburn seems to have found continuity in head coach Gus Malzahn’s up-tempo offense, entering his fourth year on The Plains.

However, Auburn needs to radically improve their defense that hasn’t been great in close to a decade. With many opportunities for blue-chip defensive players to play right away, Auburn is a team very much in the conversation for some of high school football’s best defensive front seven players. Here are five recruits Auburn must land to drastically improve and already impressive 2016 recruiting class.
