Under head coach Gus Malzahn, the Auburn Tigers have been a run-first type of offense to open up the pass for offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee. However, the Tigers do usually have a dual-threat quarterback that has great arm strength to stretch the field vertically.
The Tigers have had great wideouts like Sammie Coates and D’haquille Williams in the Malzahn era on The Plains and they may want to aggressively pursue No. 52 recruit in the country according to Scout in Tampa’s Nate Craig.
Craig will choose between Auburn and the North Carolina Tar Heels come National Signing Day. The 6’3″, 208 pound wide receiver projects as a physical possession receiver that can run a 4.50 40-yard dash.
Craig is the No. 8 wide receiver in the 2016 recruiting class and could stand as a reliable receiving target early in his career with the Tigers. Quarterbacks Jeremy Johnson and Sean White would certainly love have a physically imposing wide receiver that could bully his way against the elite secondaries in the SEC because of his impressive size.
Committing to Auburn would give Craig a high-octane offense to play a part in. He could have a huge role with the Tigers receiving corps by the time he is a sophomore. Craig would be a huge get for the Tigers should he commit to Auburn this week.
