Take a look at the five must-have 2016 HoustonĀ football recruiting targets.

After spending three years as Ohio State’s offensive coordinator, Tom Herman decided to take the head coaching job with the Houston Cougars. No one expected the kind of success he’s had in just one year’s time, but a 13-1 season and Peach Bowl win over Florida State later, the HoustonĀ isĀ looking like one of the best up-and-coming programs in the nation.

Not only has be brought major success on the field in just one year after Tony Levine led the Cougars to an 8-5 record in his final season with the school.

Houston is in good hands, but it all depends on how long it can hold on to the young coach who seemed to be the biggest steal on the market before the 2015 season.

Herman knows a thing or two about winning seeing as the Buckeyes had an undefeated season in 2012, went to the Big Ten title game in 2013 and won the national title in 2014 while he was the offensive coordinator. He’s brought that winning attitude with him, as well as his ability to recruit big-time players.

These young kids haven’t led the lack of a major brand scare them away as Herman is already building Houston into a machine. With two top-50 players already committed — including five-star defensive tackle Ed Oliver — the Cougars may end up having even more success in 2016.

With National Signing day coming up, it’s time to look at which Houston football targets are must-haves for the 2016 signing class.

There aren’t any huge names still looking to join the program, but there are some role players who would fit in nicely. Who are they?
