Jose Mourinho addressed his reported interest in the Manchester United job.

With it being transfer deadline day, headlines were always going to be flying off the press. However, it is managerial news that is stealing the news waves.

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have come to terms with a three-year contract that will start when Manuel Pellegrini gracefully vacates the position following this season and that makes Jose Mourinho one of the hottest names on the managerial market.

That being the case, “The Special One” is not going to be able to escape speculation as to where his next job may lie. He has been linked heavily to Manchester United ever since the moment he departed Chelsea. Yet Mourinho has remained strangely silent on the topic.

That is, until reporters caught up with him at Wembley.

Jose Mourinho clearly denies interest in the Manchester United job with a continual shake of the head. While this will in no way end the speculation, it is a talking point, as Mourinho was the favorite to inherit the mantle when Louis van Gaal inevitably moves on.

Van Gaal’s contract is going to run up in 2017 but there is so much pressure on him that he or the club may elect to end their partnership a little sooner.

Whatever the case, that means that one of the hottest job vacancies in the world will be the Manchester United gig. If you buy into head nods and head shakes, then we have to conclude that Jose Mourinho will not be the successor to Van Gaal. There are plenty of other positions bound to open up though, so we know that Jose Mourinho will not stay unemployed long.
