Report: Peyton Manning is telling friends he will retire after Super Bowl 50

According to a report, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is telling close friends that he will retire after Super Bowl 50.

With Super Bowl 50 drawing closer by the day, there are several big questions surrounding the game between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning’s future in the league and whether or not he will retire after Super Bowl 50 is one of those questions.

Well it looks like Sunday’s game could be the very last time that football fans see Manning take the field. According to Ian Rapoport via ProFootballTalk, Manning is telling close friends that he will retire after the Super Bowl.

"Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Manning has told close friends that he’ll retire after Super Bowl 50.Manning consistently has declined to tip his hand publicly, most recently in a Pro Bowl halftime interview with ESPN’s Chris Berman. If Manning is done, the decision represents a stark contrast from his mindset in November, when he was telling teammates that he intended to play in 2016."

If this is indeed the end for Manning, it should come as no surprise as he has not looked like the same player this season. He’s battled injuries with his foot, getting benched and questions all season long about his arm strength.

However, Manning has done an incredible job of managing the Broncos on offense in the playoffs and he has a chance to go out on top in the Super Bowl. It won’t be easy, but if there was ever a perfect time for Manning to ride off into the sunset, then it is now.

He’s getting older and the hits are beginning to pile up for him. He hasn’t showed his cards at all in regards to his future in the league, but the end looks near and it’s looking like the end is Sunday.

If Super Bowl 50 is his last game, then what a career it has been.
