FanSided seeks part-time associate producer – copy editor

FanSided Inc., a Time Inc. company, is a sports, entertainment and lifestyle media company searching for an entry-level copy editor to work alongside our content team in our Chicago Office. Ideal applicants will have an interest and basic understanding of both sports and entertainment. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to break into online sports/entertainment media.

Requirements:

-Strong understanding of AP style

-Enthusiastic about editing, proofing and improving the work of writers

-Basic understanding of HTML or WordPress preferred but not required

-Excellent communicator

-Self-starter

-Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of completion

-Understanding of the importance of the visual aspects of a story; able to choose appropriate accompanying photos in order to elevate and clarify the written work for the reader

-Able to work quickly but with care; While speed is important in the digital space, it is essential that FanSided’s copy is delivered cleanly and accurately

Responsibilities:

-Work with the FanSided content team to edit articles on FanSided.com and on other sites around the FanSided Network. This position requires that the applicant be able to quickly shift gears, editing an NFL article one moment and then an entertainment feature on Game of Thrones the next.

-Participate in brainstorming sessions and assist in the development of new content ideas.

-Manage content projects and communicate with freelancers, ensuring ordered pieces are turned in and edited by deadline.

-Assist in the development and execution of content strategies.

Compensation and Hours:

This is a part-time position that will be capped at 16 hours per-week. The pay is $10 per-hour.
