Toward the end of the first quarter of Wednesday night’s tilt with the Cavaliers, the Charlotte Hornets appeared to have run an out-of-bounds play to perfection. With just one second left in the frame, Frank Kaminsky hurled a glorious lob to Jeremy Lamb at the rim. All Lamb had to do was finish the play and the Hornets would’ve had themselves a 25-23 lead heading into the second.
Unfortunately for Charlotte, J.R. Smith had other ideas (via @JoshEberley):
This is an unbelievable block, especially when you see where Smith took off. He’s outside the restricted area! Regardless, he was able to make up the ground quickly and keep two points off the board.
J.R. Smith: Rim protector.
