J.J. Redick dives over first row to save ball (Video)
Los Angeles Clippers guard J.J. Redick sacrificed life and limb to save a ball by diving over the first row.
It takes a lot for a player to be willing to willingly launch themselves into the crowd over a row of people. Against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night, J.J. Redick paid the price late in the game to save a basketball and keep his team in the game.
After two incredible blocks on Minnesota, the ball was heading straight out of bounds, but not before Redick made an incredible leap. The ball was saved by the Clippers, but Redick went over the first row of the audience and landed hard in the stands on the play.
Redick clearly had the look of pain on his face as he landed hard. There’s no barrier there to protect him and he surely felt the pain of landing on the metal of the stands.
The good news is that he saved the ball and that it kept his team in the game. The bad news is that it would be all for naught, as the Timberwolves would leave Los Angeles with the win.
Still, you have to admire the toughness of a player to give up his body like that.
