The son of Michael Irvin will indeed be following in the footsteps of his father as a member of the Miami Hurricanes.
Fans want the Miami Hurricanes to return to their glory years, and with the recent hiring of Mark Richt, there are a lot of them out there that believe this is soon in the cards. Wednesday was the first National Signing Day for Richt as the head coach of his alma mater, and he definitely is giving the Miami fan base some of that glory days flavor with one of the signings that he made in Michael Irvin II.
Yes. as part of the class on Wednesday, the son of one of the greatest wide receivers in the history of the Hurricanes’ program will be playing his college football in South Beach. Irvin is a three-star tight end out of the famed St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and could eventually become a contributor on this Hurricanes team that is in a sort of rebuilding mode under their new head coach.
While it’s still too soon to tell whether or not Irvin will redshirt for his freshman season with the program, you’d have to imagine that the buzz of just having him on campus with the team will be large and draw a lot of interest. In reality, how neat would it be for some Miami fans that want to see the program return to prominence to have that cause helped by the son of one of the players that helped them become so infamous in the first place.
Time will tell with all of that, but for right now, it’s pretty exciting for them to say that Irvin’s son will be carrying on the Hurricanes legacy for the family.
