Wesley Matthews knocks down shot from mid-court tunnel in warm-up (Video)
Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews drilled an unreal shot from the tunnel in pre-gam warm-ups
NBA fans are undoubtedly familiar with the pre-game exploits of Stephen Curry in terms of him standing in the corner-extended tunnel and knocking down jumpers prior to tip-off. And while that’s always impressive, Dallas Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews may have just one-upped the reigning MVP on Friday night prior to a Texas battle with the San Antonio Spurs.
Matthews was goofing off prior to the tip-off of the game between the Mavs and Spurs and was hoisting up shots from the tunnel just short of the mid-court line. That’s when a bit of magic happened and the veteran guard found his mojo long enough for one of his attempts to go in:
Who knows how many attempts it took him to finally get that shot to go—and really, I don’t care. That Matthews is able to get that shot to fall at all is simply absurd. Steph gets all the shine for the shot he shoots routinely in warm-ups, but this is a few dozen feet further away from the basket that Wesley Matthews is shooting and making it from.
While I’m sure Matthews would rather have the impact that Curry does on a regular game, the Mavericks guard now has bragging rights over the reigning league MVP in terms of pre-game shooting. We’ll have to wait and see if Steph catches wind of that and tries to now overtake Wesley Matthews for that title.
