The 2016 NFL Hall of Fame Class will be headlined by Brett Favre and many others.
One of the staples of the weekend of the Super Bowl is the announcement of the newest NFL Hall of Fame class. The 2016 class was loaded with candidates and there was plenty of hard decisions for voters to make.
On Saturday night, the 2016 NFL Hall of Fame Class was announced and as expected, former Green Bay Packers great Brett Favre headlined the list.
The list also includes former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy, Rams linebacker Kevin Greene, Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison, Rams offensive lineman Orlando Pace, Oakland Raiders quarterback Ken Stabler and Detroit Lions offensive lineman Dick Stanfel.
This is a loaded class that certainly excluded some great players that just missed the ballot. Dungy is the first African-American head coach to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Greene and Pace set the tone physically on both ends of the ball for the Rams on a weekly basis. Harrison was one of the most dynamic receivers of his era for the Colts and was a nightmare every week for defensive backs.
Stabler, whom recently passed away, left a legacy with the Raiders and was one of the most beloved quarterbacks of his era. Stanfel was the definition of tough and helped anchor many offensive lines for the Detroit Lions in his career.
DeBartolo helped bring five Super Bowls to San Francisco during his time as owner and was considered one of the best to ever own a team in professional sports. Lastly, Favre was the quarterback in the 90’s. He set the then touchdown record and wasn’t afraid to sling the ball over the field. He brought another Super Bowl to Green Bay and was one of the best to ever throw it.
This class will be honored in Canton in August.
