No. 18 Purdue Boilermakers vs No. 4 Maryland Terrapins
Purdue is one of those underrated teams in college basketball this season. Despite putting up a 19-4 record, the Boilermakers get no love because the Big Ten is so top-heavy. Still, though, Matt Painter’s squad could make some noise come March, especially in the conference tournament.

Winners of five out of six games, the Boilermakers are trending in the right direction and have some momentum heading into the biggest game of the year thus far. Big man A.J. Hammons has been a force for Purdue, averaging 14.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Caleb Swanigan has had a great freshman year, putting up 9.9 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
Maryland really has been the class of the Big Ten ever since joining before last season, and that’s rare for a new team in a conference. Mark Turgeon is bringing this program back into the spotlight much like Gary Williams did before him. The Terrapins are currently 20-3 and ranked No. 4 in the country.
Melo Trimble is obviously the one obvious guy to keep an eye on. The sophomore point guard is averaging a team-high 14.8 points, 5.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Diamond Stone has been a monster as a true freshman, averaging 13 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Watch out for Rasheed Sulaimon, Robert Carter and Jake Layman as well.
