Terrell Owens didn’t get in 2016 NFL Hall of Fame Class
Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens was not voted into the 2016 NFL Hall of Fame Class.
On Saturday night, the 2016 NFL Hall of Fame Class was revealed and their was one pretty big omission from the list. Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens was not on the list and many were shocked at the fact that Owens didn’t make it in.
Owens spent the better parts of his career with the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, including stops in other places before ending his career. In his career, Owens finished second all-time in receiving yards behind Jerry Rice with 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns.
He seemed like one of the more obvious choices to make it into the Hall of Fame. After learning upon the news of not making it into this year’s class, Owens sent out a tweet thanking everyone for their support.
The fact that he was left out of the Hall of Fame class is mind-boggling. He might have had some controversial moments in his career, but that doesn’t take away from the player that he was on the field. He was physically dominant and there was no one that could line up against him and stop him in his prime.
Make no mistake about it, Owens will be in the Hall of Fame and there’s no reason it shouldn’t happen next year. For the career that he had in the league, it shouldn’t have to wait until next year.
