Todd Gurley wins NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year
Rams running back Todd Gurley was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Todd Gurley suffered a devastating knee injury during his final year in college that left many wondering if it would affect him when he got to the pros. In his first year with the St. Louis Rams in 2015, Gurley put all the doubts to rest and took his place as the next superstar running back in the league.
With an incredible burst of speed and power, Gurley was a force to bring down and quickly elevated his status in the league. On Saturday night, Gurley was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year at the NFL Honors, which has become a yearly tradition the Saturday night before the Super Bowl.
In 13 games, Gurley racked up 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also averaged an incredible 4.8 yards per carry and his longest run of the season was a 71-yard run. Needless to say, Gurley established his presence early and often in the league.
His breakout game came on October 4th at Arizona, when Gurley and the Rams handed the Cardinals their first loss of the season. On that day, Gurley had 19 carries for 146 yards against one of the top defenses in the NFL.
He didn’t slow down from there and it carried him all the way to being named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
