5. Corliss Williamson

Landing a head coach isn’t going to be easy for the Sacramento Kings. Should the team fire George Karl, it’s going to be hard for an established former coach to look at the situation in Sacramento and find it appealing to work there.

If that’s the case, then the Kings should definitely examine one of the options that they currently have on their staff. Former Sacramento Kings forward and assistant coach Corliss Williamson could be an intriguing option for the Kings.

He was a smart player during his time in the league and became one of the more valuable players off the bench in the league. Williamson has also been on the Kings’ staff since 2013 and has gotten plenty of seasoning and experience coaching in the league.

The players love him in Sacramento and respect him as well, which is something Karl might not have had from parts of the team. If Karl gets axed, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Williamson named the interim coach. If that is the case, then the team will get some time to examine him as a potential permanent option.

He’s young and he’s now had experience as an assistant for quite some time now. It might be best to turn the team over to him and allow him to make his mark. He played for the Kings and he’s someone the fan base would instantly get behind as head coach of their team.
