For all intents and purposes, the Sacramento Kings will have a tough time landing an established coach in the league because of the way that they have handled their previous head coaches as an organization.

If there’s any selling point to a potentially interested new head coach for the Kings, it’s the ascension of DeMarcus Cousins this season. Cousins has established himself as the most dominant big man in the NBA and he’s continuing to make leaps and bounds as a player.

If there’s a coach that could potentially be a nice pairing with Cousins, it’s Tom Thibodeau. Thibodeau’s teams in Chicago enjoyed really getting the big guys involved and working from there. In Sacramento, Thibodeau would be respected by the players and he would have them working hard.

The biggest question is whether or not there would be a style clash between the two sides. Thibodeau is a commanding presence and doesn’t put up with much, which means there would have to be patience from both ends with each other.

Still, Thibodeau knows what it takes to win in this league and that could be what propels the Kings toward that. They’re not far, but they still have work to do to get there.
