3. Monty Williams

When the New Orleans Pelicans decided to fire Monty Williams after the team finally made the playoffs and appeared on the rise in the NBA, it was quite the perplexing decision. Williams was a respected coach around the league and the players really answered to him.

The Pelicans have since begun to flounder and it looks like things aren’t taking off quite yet under new head coach Alvin Gentry.

If the Sacramento Kings want to get behind a head coach that has the respect of his players and has coached one of the young dominant big men in the NBA in Anthony Davis, then the Kings should be looking to see if Williams has interest in coaching DeMarcus Cousins.

The only way the Kings are going to turn the ship around and compete for a spot in the playoffs is by getting a coach that has the respect of his players and knows how to make his big man successful along with having the team play hard for him.

That’s the type of coach that Williams is and even though the Pelicans fired him, he has shown that he can be a successful and respected coach in this league. Those two things have been foreign concepts to the Kings for some time now.
