Running down trades the Kings should make to improve their playoff chances
This year in the NBA, the teams in California have been getting a ton of media attention – whether it be Kobe’s retirement, Blake Griffin’s questionable off-court antics, or the Warriors’ historically good season. However, one storyline people didn’t predict comes from the often forgotten California team, the Sacramento Kings. Right now, the Sacramento Kings are on the outside looking in as far as the playoff hunt in the Western Conference, but only by the slimmest of margins. Their record marks the best winning percentage the Kings have had since 2007-08 season. It seems that for the first time in a long time, Kings fans actually have a tangible future that they can be excited about.
DeMarcus Cousins has seemingly overcome his past attitude problems and has firmly cemented himself as the best center in the NBA. The offseason acquisition of Rajon Rondo has bolstered the whole team, as he currently dominates the NBA in assists per game. In addition to the signing of Rondo, first-round pick Willie Cauley-Stein appears to be well on his way to becoming a top-tier rebounder and interior defender.
The Kings are a good young team, but they will need a boost at the trade deadline if they want to have a chance to make the playoffs this season. Here are five trades that could get Sacramento over the hump.
