A Denver Broncos fan paid their respects to Vince Lombardi on the day of Super Bowl 50, and also left a hat behind.
The Denver Broncos are undoubtedly focused on winning Super Bowl 50, but one fan decided to pay respects to the man the trophy is named after. Before they get set to take on the Carolina Panthers, someone paid their respects to legendary Green Bay Packers head coach Vince Lombardi, whose grave has a large “50” inscribed in the snow, while also leaving a team hat behind:
The fan is obviously hoping that doing so will give the team good luck. On the other hand, it could be a premonition as leaving a Broncos hat in a graveyard could mean that Denver’s chances of winning are dead. It’s a ridiculous thought, but lots of teams are superstitious.
Of course, the Broncos have a player in Peyton Manning who will be just as highly respected by the time he passes away. He will obviously want to end his career with one last Super Bowl win, but his legacy is already set in stone. It’s not crazy to think that teams will soon be visiting his grave before they take the field for the Big Game.
