Marshawn Lynch announces retirement on Twitter (Photo)

During Super Bowl 50, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch retired.

If this is not the most “Beast Mode” thing of all-time, we will never know what is. Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch decided during Super Bowl 50 to hang up his cleats, literally, via his Twitter account.

For Lynch, many have believed that this was coming. The 29-year-old played nine National Football League seasons with the Buffalo Bills and Seahawks, playing the final six in the Emerald City. Lynch was drafted with the 12th-overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft out of the University of California but was labeled a bust in Buffalo, despite two 1,000-yard seasons. Lynch was then dealt to the Seahawks in 2010 and his career took off.

From 2011-14, Lynch was one of the best players in the NFL and helped Seattle reach the Super Bowl in two consecutive seasons, including a championship in 2013. For his career, Lynch finishes with 9,112 rushing yards and 74 touchdowns. He will likely never make it to the Hall of Fame, but Lynch will be remembered as one of the toughest backs to ever come down the pike.

As for the Seahawks, they will now turn to Thomas Rawls for the future. Rawls came into the league this year as an undrafted rookie and in 13 games, rushed for 830 yards on 5.6 yards per carry.
