Twitter blew up over the news of Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch announcing his retirement.

One of the most dominant running backs to ever play the game announced his retirement during Super Bowl 50. While the Seattle Seahawks weren’t playing in the game, running back Marshawn Lynch posted an ominous photo to Twitter of two cleats being hung up.

It signifies that he is calling it a career, then what a career it was. In Seattle, Lynch became one of the most dominant running backs to ever play and he helped lead the Seahawks to their only Super Bowl in franchise history.

His teammates began to reach out on Twitter and began showing him love for everything that he did for the organization. Following Beast Mode’s photo, Twitter began to blow up over his silent announcement of retirement.

Lynch’s retirement, while not a surprise, surely has caught people off guard with the timing of the announcement. It occurred near the end of the Super Bowl, which in a way is a great way for him to go out.

He’s never been about the big announcement, he’s about flying under the radar and the cryptic tweet is befitting of a goodbye for a legend.
