Peyton Manning throws interception to fat guy (Video)
Peyton Manning made a crucial mistake in Super Bowl 50 with this play.
In the second quarter of Super Bowl 50, the Denver Broncos were driving down the field. They had a 13-7 lead and were looking to add to it.
Now, at this stage of his career, quarterback Peyton Manning is obviously not the player he once was. Injuries have mounted for the future NFL Hall of Famer over the years, leading to decreased arm strength. It often leads to passes being floated to receivers or the football coming out wobbly from his hands.
However, the smarts of Manning under center have kept him around. He can still manage to outthink the opposing defense and score on them.
Unfortunately, this play didn’t show much of that.
When Manning dropped back for this pass, he threw it about 5 yards from the line of scrimmage (maybe 10 if you’re counting from the shotgun position). He was looking for wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders but threw it nowhere close to him. The ball would land in the hands of Panthers defensive lineman Kony Ealy, who isn’t the most slender man, standing at 275 lbs.
Throwing an interception is one thing, but to a defensive lineman doesn’t look good.
However, this is Manning, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time. He’ll recover as the game goes on to try to earn his second Lombardi Trophy.
