8. 1992 Dallas Cowboys (SB XXVII)

There’s no question that one of the greatest runs of any team in the history of the NFL was the Dallas Cowboys in the early-to-mid 1990s as they won three Super Bowls in four years. However, the best of those teams with the same cast of characters was unquestionably the 1992 Dallas team. The Cowboys absolutely ran through the competition in the 1992 season and topped that off emphatically in the playoffs.

Troy Aikman at quarterback and Michael Irvin were obviously huge in the passing game, but a young 23-year-old running back by the name Emmitt Smith (maybe you’ve heard of him) carried the offense in a major way in the 1992 NFL season as he rushed for 1,713 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season and went for over 2,000 yards from scrimmage. Throw in the fact that the Cowboys also had the fifth-best defense in the NFL on the year and it’s no wonder that they went a dominant 13-3 in the regular season.

However, the way that they laid waste to opponents in the postseason ultimately slots them in the top-10. They trounced NFC East rivals in the Eagles with a 34-10 win in the Divisional Round game before battling the 49ers for a 30-20 victory in the NFC title game. However, they topped it off with one of the most lopsided Super Bowl wins ever over the Bills, winning 52-17 and making their place in history unavoidable.
