The NFL showed off their coin for Super Bowl 50 and it looks spectacular.
Never again will the coin flip in the Super Bowl be so important. Before the teams take the field, the NFL showed what both sides of the coin will look like and, since it’s the 50th Super Bowl, they went all out.
There are a couple of concerns over the coin – such as which side is heads and which one is tails. While another concern was expressed by the fans:
That is in obvious reference to when the coin didn’t flip in overtime between the Packers and Cardinals, resulting in Arizona getting the first and only possession. Anybody who uses the coin flip result as a prop bet will be hoping that the coin actually flips as well.
Peyton Manning is no stranger to how important the coin flip is. For example, there was Super Bowl 41 when Devin Hester returned the opening kick for a touchdown resulting in the Colts squib kicking the rest of the game. Then there was Sean Payton’s legendary call to onside kick to start the second half of Super Bowl XLIV which completely turned the tide of the game and gave the Saints the win.
As the designated away team, the Panthers will get to call the toss and whoever gets the opening possession will look to get off to a quick score.
