T.J. Ward intercepts pass, fumbles and Broncos recover (Video)
Denver Broncos safety T.J. Ward intercepted a pass in the red zone, fumbled it and watched his teammate recover it.
The Denver Broncos allowed an incredible pass from Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and it looked like the Panthers were in a great position to pull closer in Super Bowl 50.
As Newton went to throw, he overthrew Ted Ginn and threw the ball right into the arms of safety T.J. Ward, who had just allowed the big pass earlier in the drive. Ward stumbled to his feet after intercepting the pass in his own territory and then fumbled the ball.
As there was a mad dash for the ball, Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan fell on the ball and the Broncos made a huge recovery on the play.
After Ward stumbled to get to his feet after the interception, it was probably better had he just stayed down on the play. The fumble ended up costing the Broncos yards, but it’s better that they recovered it rather than giving the Panthers a brand new set of downs deep in their own territory with a chance to pull closer.
It’s a classic example of a player trying to do too much on a play. However, this is the Super Bowl and everyone is going to try do what they can to win.
