3. Super Bowl XVIII: Raiders-Redskins

In 1983, the Washington Redskins were being looked upon as perhaps one of the greatest teams in National Football League history. At that juncture, the offense was the highest-scoring unit of all-time and was expected to roll over the Los Angeles Raiders in Super Bowl XVIII in Tampa, Fla. In the regular season, the Redskins were able to beat the Raiders in RFK Stadium, giving us one of the better games of that campaign.

However, the Super Bowl was nothing like that. Joe Theismann was terrible on the biggest stage and it set the tone for a team that never settled in, despite being defending champions. Los Angeles was able to get out to a huge lead and then rolled behind the legs of Marcus Allen, who gave us one of the more memorable touchdowns in Super Bowl history. The Raiders sealed their third Super Bowl that night and have not won a title since. Washington would actually get back to the Super Bowl on two more occasions under head coach Joe Gibbs, winning both in 1987 and 1991.

The Raiders had one of the better defenses in modern history, led by Howie Long, Lyle Alzado, Matt Millen and Mike Haynes.
