The New York Islanders showed respect to Daniel Bryan by thanking him for the “Yes” chant

The New York Islanders have adopted retired WWE wrestler Daniel Bryan as one of their own, even using his infamous “Yes” chant beginning with last season. Players and fans alike have used the addicting chant as their rallying cry as the Islanders try to win their first Stanley Cup since 1983.

On Twitter, the Islanders thanked Bryan for his contributions, specifically to creating the chant.

The Islanders could use a bit more of the “Yes” chant as of late. New York has struggled to stay above a true .500 record with a 27-18-6 record entering Monday’s action. Last season, the Islanders were among the league’s best scoring teams and defensive teams. This season they have been so but their record does not reflect that. They have five wins in their last 10 games.

John Tavares hasn’t been himself. Tavares is usually a Hart Trophy candidate. He had a career high 38 goals and 48 assists for 86 points last season as he finished third place in the Hart Trophy voting. This season he has 40 points in 48 games. The Islanders will need to channel their inner Daniel Bryan if they want to go deep in the playoffs.
