Jaromir Jagr doesn’t believe that fellow old man Peyton Manning should retire even after winning his second Super Bowl

Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr is having an incredible season despite approaching his 44th birthday on February 15th. Jagr is giving older athletes hope that they can still play even after they’re past their prime.

That being said, Jagr would like to see Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning continue to play even after winning his second Super Bowl.

“I don’t think [Peyton’s] going to retire, I think he’s going to play,” Jagr said, via ESPN. “People say you should retire when you’re the best. What’s the reason? It doesn’t make sense to me. Are you wanting to die when you hit 35 when you feel the best? You know what I mean?”

Jagr finds motivation to keep playing and keep himself in incredible shape despite his old age. However, he isn’t battling injuries like Manning is. Peyton has been one neck injury away from retirement and possible paralysis ever since he had his major neck surgery in 2012.

Manning is also likely going down as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Even if people think he isn’t, is there anything Manning could gain by playing another year? Probably not. He has won two Super Bowls and holds virtually every passing record that he can own.

Another factor in Manning’s decision will likely be that he is financially well-set for the rest of his life. He owns several Papa John’s franchises in Colorado. Manning will likely be able to do whatever it is that he wants to do after he retires. He’ll have companies begging him to be their spokesman and networks pleading him to join them as an analyst.

Jaromir Jagr doesn’t have the luxury of that like Manning does because Jagr isn’t the star that Manning is.
