When does the 2016 NFL schedule come out?

The Super Bowl is over, and we now have to wait a solid six months before the training camps open and seven months before the 2016 regular season begins. The 2016 NFL schedule also has yet to come out, and it will be released sometime in middle of April, if recent years are any indication.

In the past, the NFL will announce the date a few days before the schedule comes out. Then they will pound out the schedule on about five different networks, and then give us breathless coverage for a few hours. While we are all waiting to know who plays when and where, it might be a tad over the top. The schedule is certain to drop right before the NFL Draft, which begins on April 28 in Chicago.

We do know that the 2016 NFL regular season will begin on Sept. 8 with the opening game on Thursday night. The following Sunday is the first full slate of games with the Monday night having a doubleheader. There will also be a game on Oct. 21 (MNF) between the Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders that takes place in Mexico, with the Texans acting as the home team.
