Boston Bruins pay tribute to Milan Lucic (Video)
The Boston Bruins paid tribute to 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Milan Lucic in his first game back since being traded to the Kings
Milan Lucic spent the first eight years of his career with the Boston Bruins before being traded to the Los Angeles Kings right before the 2015 NHL Draft. Lucic was a beloved member of the Bruins and he made his return to the Garden tonight for the first time as a member of a team that wasn’t the Bruins.
The Bruins paid tribute to their 2011 Stanley Cup champion forward and the fans were happy to see him.
Lucic scored 139 goals and 203 assists for 342 points in 566 games with the Bruins. He helped lead them to a Stanley Cup victory during the 2010-2011 season. Milan Lucic talked about his return to Boston in a recent Player’s Tribune article.
From the Player’s Tribune:
"Now that I’m coming back for the first time as a member of the Kings, I wanted to address the people who made Boston home for me. The hard part is, where do I even begin?I could talk about the Stanley Cup season in 2011. But to be honest, the Stanley Cup was just the culmination of years and years of memories."
All those memories came back to Milan during the tribute. He’s a huge part of the Bruins success in recent years and has been a massive part of the franchise’s history. While he’s not in Boston anymore, the love for him there will never die and this tribute only hammered that home. His future with the Bruins likely isn’t over, as the door will almost certainly be open for him to return in some capacity, and fans clearly won’t mind if that reunion ever happens.
