NBA Trade Rumors: Hawks reject George Hill for Jeff Teague deal

The Pacers tried to trade George Hill for Jeff Teague — it didn’t work.

We’re just over a week away from the NBA trade deadline, which means now is the time for not only rumors to start popping up at a mad rate, but also for actual deals to be kicked around front offices. One such deal was floated recently between the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks which would have seen an exchange of starting point guards between those two teams.

According to Kevin Arnovitz and Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com, the Hawks were offered George Hill for Jeff Teague but politely turned that deal down.

Teague has been heavily rumored to be o the move before the deadline arrives — but so far no deal has been made. The Pacers offering up Hill is an interesting idea, as it now seems to suggest that they’re more than willing to move him for a replacement. Again, that doesn’t mean it will happen, but they’ve already offered him up in a deal and were turned down, which might speak to Hill’s trade value overall.

If the Hawks are indeed seriously interested in moving Teague, they’ve now begun to make a price for him public. It will take more value than what George Hill presents to make a deal happen, which only seems to further suggest that Atlanta is hot after a deal. This isn’t the most surprising thing to be churned out of the rumor mill, but it does show that Atlanta isn’t going to just be giving Teague away to anyone who calls up with a halfway decent offer.
