With the Memphis Grizzlies losing Marc Gasol indefinitely to a broken foot, these are five replacements they should look at.
The Memphis Grizzlies are in the middle of the playoff race just as they always are, but that soon could change after the team announced on Tuesday that center Marc Gasol will be out indefinitely after fracturing his right foot.
Memphis is currently 30-22 and the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference, but they currently are just 4.5 games up on the No. 9 seed in the playoff race. With a brutal March schedule and being without their star center possibly until the end of the regular season if not longer, the Grizzlies are going to have quite the time holding on.
The team has had their fair share of issues with injuries and really havenāt been able to catch a break. After multiple postseason runs and a physical style of play, itās not surprising to see the tough Grizzlies begin to wear down a little bit.
Most of the injuries the team has been able to overcome, but losing the guy that anchors the defense and ties it all together in Memphis might just be the final straw for the Grizzliesā playoff chances this season.
Should the Grizzlies want to hold on, theyāre going to need to make a move to acquire a temporary option at center. The team signed Brandan Wright in the off-season and heās a nice option off the bench, but theyāre going to need more depth than just Wright up front alongside Zach Randolph.
These are the five replacement options that the Grizzlies should look at for Marc Gasol.
