According to Chris Broussard, the Miami Heat might be frustrated enough with Hassan Whiteside to shop him.

The Miami Heat have a big decision ahead of them if they’re going to keep center Hassan Whiteside. The center is set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and the Heat are going to have to commit a lot of money to keep him.

On paper, it seems like an easy decision to keep him, but with his on-court maturity issues and the Heat not having much tolerance for it, perhaps it could mean trading away Whiteside at the trade deadline. Whiteside was ejected from yet another game on Tuesday night, when he threw an elbow at San Antonio Spurs center Boban Marjanovic.

On Sportscenter, Chris Broussard speculated that the Heat are gauging interest in Whiteside. The move shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the Heat risk losing for him nothing and perhaps they feel it’s time to move on from the young center.

Broussard notes that it’s going to be tough to move him because his salary is so low that it would be tough to match salaries. Also Whiteside doesn’t have “Bird Rights,” which means that the Heat or any team can’t go over the cap to sign him this summer.

While it makes sense to gauge teams interest in him, he’s ultimately a tough piece to move and him staying in Miami seems like the likeliest option.
