14: Scott Hartnell
Columbus Blue Jackets forward Scott Hartnell has fallen out of favor with Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella. Hartnell has been healthy scratched by Torts on more than one occasion. That’s usually the first step in Tortorella kicking a player out of a city. It has happened to numerous players before and Hartnell looks to be next. Scott Hartnell could be traded as soon as the 2016 NHL trade deadline.
Hartnell is a gritty power forward who can still produce at a very respectable level. As of February 7th, Hartnell has 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points in 52 games for the last place Blue Jackets. The issue with Hartnell is that he commits a ton of penalties. He has 85 penalty minutes this season and has at least 100 penalty minutes in 11 of his last 14 regular seasons. All three of the seasons in which he didn’t have at least 100 penalty minutes in, he came close to 100 but missed due to injuries or a lockout shortened season.
Scott Hartnell can bring elite power play production to the table as he loves to go into the tough areas around the crease and create traffic. He also gets a ton of rebounds. If traded at the NHL trade deadline, the Blue Jackets could get a huge haul for Hartnell.
