When will the Kansas City Royals report to spring training in 2016?

The Kansas City Royals will be going into the 2016 season looking to defend their 2015 World Series title. They are the two-time reigning American League champions as well, having lost to the San Francisco Giants in 2014. Kansas City had a quietly efficient offseason and they appear to be in great shape to compete once again for the ring, easily being considered the best team in the AL Central.

The Royals will officially begin spring training when pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 18. Starting pitcher Ian Kennedy is a new acquisition while starting pitcher Jason Vargas is someone to keep an eye on after missing 2015 due to injuries. The Kansas City bullpen looks to be in top notch shape with relief pitchers Wade Davis and Kelvin Herrera leading the way. Pitchers and catchers will have their first workout on Feb. 19.

Position players will begin reporting on Feb. 22. Outfielder Alex Gordon will be returning to Kansas City to lead a lineup that led the team last season. First baseman Eric Hosmer and outfielder Lorenzo Cain will be back as well. Cain will enter the 2016 season as one of the American League Most Valuable Player frontrunners. Third baseman Mike Moustakas will look to continue improving as he is one of the league’s most underrated players. They will hold their first full squad workout on Feb. 23.
